Gorillas have another World Champion! Congratulations to Aaron Teys (pictured right) who has won the World Champ of Champions at St Johns Park. Aaron qualified for the finals series after running 2nd to Scotland after the round robin stage but then defeated Fiji in the quarter final in straight sets, followed that by defeating Wales in the semi final and destroyed New Zealand in a very one sided final.
The Gorillas are making their mark throughout the World, with Jesse Noronha winning the Hong Kong Invitational Singles and Pairs titles (pictured left with the singles trophy) – a sensational effort and congratulations.
The state championships were completed at Ettalong in October, unfortunately Zone Pairs champions Teddy Clarke & Leif Selby and Zone Over 60s champions Paul Collins & Geoff McGillivray were both defeated in the last 16 by eventual winners and Zone Singles champion Harley McDonald lost out in the quarter finals to Andrew Rees.
The Pennants starts on Saturday 28th April 2018 and nominations sheets have been posted on the notice board for any players who are interested.
The Annual Warrigal Wayne Crane Over 50s Pairs was won by John Green and Bernie Melville. The highlight was the attendance of the Crane family at the presentation, who remarked how proud Craney would have been of everyone at the Club that made his memorial tournament the success that it was.
Presentation night was a great night out and congratulations to all the winners.
On behalf Trevor and Dallas and all of our Bowls Officials I hope you all have a merry Christmas and a New Year full of good bowling.

Bowls Premier League
The Illawarra Gorillas made their debut in the Bowls Premier League this November and what a debut it was! After four tough days of nail biting competition the Gorillas scraped through to the minor semi-final, but it was on and up from there. Firstly beating a red hot Alex Marshall and his Brisbane team in the minor semi-final, then following up with a great win, sealed by a Jeremy Henry bomb in the final against the Murray Steamers.
And so the debutants made it to the Grand Final, only to go down to an in form Sydney Lions team and finish runners-up in the tournament. A sensational result which would not have been without our major sponsor, Silkari, and our sleeve sponsor XXXX Gold. The next instalment of the BPL is in April 2018, to be played in Wellington New Zealand.
Supporters shirts are now available for sale in the bowls shop for $49.50. So buy your gear and get behind the team in April.
